Nestled in the hustle and bustle of the city, is Perth City Farm, a former scrap metal yard and a battery recycling plant. Every Saturday, there is an organic grower’s market. The grounds are extensive and quaint because it is littered with planted vegetables and herbs – all too willing to soak up the rays of sunshine, whilst listening to the occasional screeches of train stopping. The Perth City Farm is a community garden – educational workshops are carried out as are extensive volunteering events to keep this urban garden ticking along.
The Perth Sketchers met up earlier this morning at the Perth City Farm. We met by the coffee shop, and spent a bit of time chatting to catch up since our last meet up. We then had a wander around trying to find a nice spot to set up our sketch.
The market is open between 8am and 12pm. I stayed up to about 12:30pm and decided to make a speedy exit while everyone was packing up. It is all too easy to get lost in the secret garden like this, and get locked in. Here’s my final sketch.
It was great catching up with everyone. Roll on the next sketch meet!
